Adjustable Bed Frame

A metal adjustable bed frame is a great way to get the most from a bed and make sure it can fit your family needs for years to come. There are of course two kinds of adjustable bed frames. The first would be a frame for an adjustable bed, like those used for special medical care or in hospitals.

The second would a bed frame that is adjustable to fit the different size beds on the market. I have used both and can say with assurance that they serve different function but both have great benefits to any family.

So the first adjustable bed frame is for a bed that can adjust to different positions for medical or health and comfort reasons. These beds are used for people later in life who benefit from an adjustable bed. This can be for easier access to medical care or because they have suffered injuries where only certain positions bring rest to their bodies.

These adjustable bed frames are made from reinforced steel and aluminum because they have to not hold hold the weight of the body but they need to be able to move the body up and down as well. An electric adjustable bed frame is never the part of the bed that actually breaks, its almost always a motor.

The second type of adjustable bed frame is the one that is a standard bed frame that adjusts to fit different bed sizes ranging usually up and down 1 or 2 sizes. Meaning the same frame that can fit a twin can fit a full and queen but not a king. Most people get these type of adjustable bed frames because they can be used in different rooms and with different beds which usually end up accommodating a child for several years.

Additionally if you have a bed that you want to move from your kids room into a guest room and up-grade their childhood bed to a queen for the guests you can save because you don’t need to buy an additional frame.

Finally, despite what the manufacturer says, some beds are just simply different sizes. Usually they are only off by a few inches here or there but anyone who has kicked a bed frame corner can tell you it is a painful mistake not to match the frame to the bed. An adjustable bed frame makes it so you can bring the frame in to account for the small variations and get a perfect fit every time.

Getting Creative with Pendant Lights

If you are considering pendant lighting, you will of course have to take into account your own personal design preferences. There are many styles and sizes of pendants to fit pretty much any situation. Some very creative people and artist types even enjoy creating their own light designs. I asked my friend Jasmine, the interior designer, to write a bit about her take on pendant lights. I think you will find some helpful tips in her rather poetic approach to the subject.

The world of darkness departed from its confines by the emergence of light, marvelous and beautiful light. No one can ignore the enchantment of light especially if it is presented in an artistic and creative stage, enveloped in colors and forms that capture its illumination in order to enhance its brightness.

The sun is better to look at in all its warmth and splendor than a naked fluorescent bulb that strikes the eyes quite offensively. Artificial lighting needs to be wrapped in ribbons and trimmings to make them more functional and more appealing. A ceiling-mounted circular bulb that is covered by a frosted glass diffuser lightens up a bedroom up to an appropriate extent so as to calm people’s nerves instead of agitating them with its steely glare.

Imagine a chandelier with exposed ugly bulbs and wires in an elegant dining room. It just wouldn’t do. It has to be enfolded in tinted glass and Swarovski crystals to be presentably suited to the interior’s intimidating and classy ambiance.

Modern interior design recognizes that sometimes, less is more. The elaborate adornments of light bulbs within hanging chandeliers have been simplified in the form of inventive pendant lights. They have a sophistication that is characterized by their contemporary silhouette, streamlined yet very attractive.

Their modern versions have artistic designs that create a strong impact to the interiors where they are used. Pendant lights differ from chandeliers in their form. They are composed of a single hanging light fixture while chandeliers have multiple intertwining lights.

Modern pendant lights have three variations, namely the conventional, inverted and mini lights. Conventional ones have umbrella-type forms with their opening at the bottom. Inverted pendant lights on the other hand, have their opening at the top. The mini type as their name implies are small hanging lights with similar sizes and varying heights.

The ideal choice for small dining rooms would have to be the conventional and inverted types because they are singular and they serve as a focal element to the space. For large dens and corner areas of rooms, several mini pendant lights can be used for mood lighting and to create an artistic spectacle to an otherwise dull and boring area.

One to three small hanging lighting fixtures focusing on the bar counter provide task lighting and enhances the mood of the area. You may also use pendant track lighting that has a connection among two to three mini lights. Do not limit yourself to three identical lights, you can be totally artistic with the combinations.

There is a wide selection of designs for pendant lighting fixtures. They vary in sizes, shapes and colors. The prices also differ depending on brands and materials used. Huge sculptural pendant lights have interesting and awe-inspiring designs such as sharp and pointed glass, round and colorful with mosaic mirrors and laminated glass, edgy and metallic with swirling forms, etc.

These attractive and very noticeable designs can be designated in hotel lobbies, grand ballrooms and high-end restaurants with high ceilings. Simple and functional conventional pendant lighting can be hung at the ceiling of large industrial kitchens, main working areas in factories and school canteens because they distribute task lighting liberally and small inverted pendant lighting can be assigned to illuminate desks in private commercial and home offices.

Mini pendant lighting will look great in bars and restaurants because they add to the inviting ambiance of these commercial establishments.

Creating your own pendant lights is an inventive way to personalize your homes. If you are a restaurant or cafe owner, you can also experiment with design variations in lighting fixtures so that you commercial space can have interior elements that look like no other, a sort of identifiable trademark to attract patrons and customers.

You can start by exploring the use of different materials for the cover of the light bulbs. Then you can play with sizes and colors that will enhance their look.

Lantern paper formed into a hollow cylindrical shape to accommodate the light bulb and using exposed twigs of trees for support can fit a country style dining room.

You can use curtain or upholstery fabric, with any possible pattern you can conceive of and adhere to a metal frame with funky geometric shapes. You can poke holes on the fabric to allow light to go out and for interesting effect.

You can add layers to the pendant light in reference to its height. You can use three bulbs and encase them in inverted glass covers and make them drop down in three layers.

Small wine bottles or glass jars with different colors can be used as mini pendant lights by inserting the bulbs inside and securing the nozzle for the wires. You can have several of these hanging down in different heights in your foyer or your bedroom. You do not have to follow standard headroom clearance by placing them in room corners or near the walls where they will not be touched or bumped into.

Brief Introduction to Propane Heaters

Previously we did an article about patio heaters. As a follow up to that article, the site we linked to Space Heater Pro have provided us with a short introduction to propane heaters, which we are happy to publish.

Propane heaters are great as portable space heaters. They work wonderfully if you just need to heat up one room or a small space. Portable propane space heaters are perfect for use in your garage or workshop, or in a tent or around a fishing hole.

Great Emergency Heaters

Propane heaters do not need electricity to work. That makes them handy for winter storms when you might lose electricity or on trips or places where you might not have electricity. Portable propane space heaters work best outdoors. They look very nice on a patio. You can have a lovely night outside on your patio or balcony with the space heater warming you. When using a space heater inside you must be careful of carbon monoxide fumes. In such a situation it may be better to use an infrared heater, as these emit no fumes.

It may not make sense to ventilate the room you are trying to heat but you must not allow the gasses to accumulate inside. Many people get in trouble because they do not adequately vent the room.

Propane heaters are great portable heaters for use in a variety of situations

The worse mistake you can make is to pull out the old space heater in the basement that has not been used for a while. Do not use old and possibly dangerous heaters. Make sure you have a UL listed sticker on your heater. A new space heater does not have to cost a lot of money; there are many cost effective heaters available. You are better off spending the money than taking the risk of using a dangerous heater. Your heater will not save you any money if it is not working efficiently.

Convenient Heaters

They are handy because you can move them easily to heat up another room. Many people will use a space heater in rooms that are more heavily used and close off the rest. This method works well even in smaller homes. Everyone has rooms that they use less frequently during different times of the day or night. You can close the room vents, close doors, and only heat the rooms when you go in them. The difference in your electric bill may be worth the inconvenience of moving the heater from room to room. A good portable space heater can quickly and efficiently heat up a small office or bathroom.

Propane space heaters usually cost less to run than equivalent electric heaters. By heating only a portion of your home, you are using less electricity, saving money, and using an alternative form of heat.

Getting the Most from the Space in Your Children’s Room

There are a number of ways you can get the most from the available area in a child’s room, and getting full size bunk beds is just one. You can get a trundle bed that has a pull out under neath the normal size bed.

There are a number of bed / storage combination beds you can get and more and more designers have taken these functional ideas to create really good looking furniture. The reason full size bunk beds are such a great option is because it gives you space now and longevity for continued future use.

You can save space and create lots of storage with a bunk bed

Giving you space now is pretty inherent in the function of any bunk bed you buy. The whole idea is to stack the beds so you can have two for the price of one and save you the area of the second bed. Full size bunk beds are going to take just a little more space but you gain added functionality in that they are bigger and can handle a more diverse crowd of guests.

The only down side to having full size bunk beds for kids is that unless you purchase one that has a super sturdy frame you may have to deal with the bed warping and bending over time.

It can be hard to feel good about expecting guests to use a bunk bed that is a single or twin because it is so small. With a full size bunk bed you are giving more room to the user and this will allow you to use the bed for a longer period of time making it a more economical purchase in the long run.

You start running into space issues with things like full size bunk beds with stairs because the stairs are also going to take up a certain amount of room.

The best place for a larger set of bunk beds like these are in a cabin or second home somewhere. My wife and I watched the HGTV special for the new home they are giving away in 2011 and they had 4 sets of bunks beds. It made more sense because the beds were used more to accommodate sleepers than to have someone live there long term.

How to Lose Weight in a Week (or 2 Weeks)

So you’ve got to fit into your new dress by the end of the week. Or maybe you have a big date and you want to look as trim as possible. Or it might just be a case where you have a personal challenge to lose weight within a designated amount of time. There are any number of reasons why someone would want to lose weight in a week, and all of them are valid to the person who is looking to drop a few pounds. There is no magic secret to how to lose weight in a week since it’s a simple matter of science. You basically just have to use very basic concepts in order to burn the amount of calories you need to get the results you want. Obviously this is easier said than done, and you also have to have your overall health in mind as well.

Safety concerns

let’s get this out of the way first – you have to be careful about quick weight loss and losing too many pounds in a short amount of time. That’s not to say losing weight in a week is not something you shouldn’t pursue, you just have to be careful about the way you do it. At most, you can safely lose around two pounds per week without jeopardizing your body or creating conditions that will likely have you gaining that weight back in the long run. Two pounds is a healthy goal to aim for and there is nothing wrong with having this as your standard. Obviously, people who are looking to figure out how to lose weight in a week might have bigger numbers in mind, just make sure to make proper adjustments so that you aren’t putting yourself in jeopardy. The same applies if you are looking to lose weight in 2 weeks, and it’s far better to plan for the long term anyways.

When it comes to losing weight, being prepared and organized is always going to come in handy. In fact, in many cases it will mean the difference between success and failure. So on day one of your weight loss plan, you get a bit of a break because you don’t actually have to start with healthy eating or exercise at all. Rather, spend some time getting your affairs in order and taking a careful look at your own daily eating habits. You basically already know that in order to lose weight in a week or 2 weeks, you are going to have to burn more calories than you consume. But more importantly, what do you eat on a daily basis? What are you planning to heat for this week? Is it any different than what you would normally have and is it something that you can stick with? You might even want to start up a fat loss journal so that you were can record every piece of information that you come across in addition to writing down your thoughts and feelings about the overall process. Keeping organized in this way will be even more essential if you have a long-term plan and are looking to figure out how to lose weight in 2 weeks rather than just one.

Lose weight in a week – let the journey begin

1. So where do you start?

The interesting thing about losing weight is that need to take things day by day but also have an overall plan in place as well. That means you have to carefully balance your focus so that you can keep on track. It might be tempting on day one of your diet to just simply stop eating and exercise I crazy. If you do that for seven days in a row, you will undoubtedly lose weight but not without a price. No professional fitness trainer or doctor would ever condone that type of approach to weight loss, and you can rest assured that weight gained in this way is going to come back eventually. So one of the first steps you should take is to get rid of any temptation for shortcuts or starvation because that should never be an option.

2. Eliminate the easy stuff.

There are things we eat on a daily basis that serve no nutritional value or contain high calories, sodium, or sugar. Things like soft drinks find a way into our daily diets relatively easily and we don’t really notice it. One of the first things you can do is to simply get rid of these things which shouldn’t be too hard if we’re talking about losing weight in a week or 2 weeks. Remember that one can of Coke is roughly 160 calories which can immediately be eliminated from your diet simply by not drinking it.

3. Healthy food choices.

On day one of your weight loss plan you should make it a point to plan your diet for the week (or 2 weeks). Obviously it won’t be set in stone, but it helps to have a general outline to prevent you from eating whatever you want whenever you feel like it. An example of a healthy menu for the day would look something like this:

Breakfast – cereal, fruit, and juice.
Lunch – skinless chicken wrap, salad.
Dinner – poached salmon, side vegetables.

Notice that for this one week you aren’t going to be a things like beef or pork. If you want snacks, then go ahead and load up on vegetables or fruits throughout the day. Cut out things like coffee and tea as well since you are going to be drinking a lot of water during this time. You’ll also notice that you don’t have to sacrifice taste or come up with a diet composed mainly of rice cakes and tofu to lose weight in a week. You can still enjoy tasty foods as long as you take the time to prepare them in a healthy way and partner them with good side dishes.

4. Exercise daily.

You knew it was coming, someone was bound to tell you that if you want to lose weight and a week then you have to exercise. Some people have a problem with this because they might not have been active for a while, while others simply hate to work out. But the key is to burn calories and if you want quick results you can’t just do that by altering your diet. You have to get your body in motion whether it’s by walking, running, or swimming.

Now here is where math comes into play. The first thing you want to do is to establish your basal metabolic rate or the amount of calories that you consume simply by being alive. There are calculators for that on the Internet where you simply type in your age, height and other minor details to determine your BMR. Once you know those details you will be able to determine how much you can eat without gaining weight, or more importantly, how many further calories you have to burn in order to lose weight.

In order to lose one pound you have to burn off a total of 3500 calories. So let’s say under normal circumstances you have a BMR of 2000. If you eat 2000 calories in a day then you will not lose or gain any weight. However, if through a combination of diet and exercise your total caloric intake is only 1500, then you are 500 calories closer to that magic 3500 number where you lose one pound. So now you see why slow weight loss is recommended and two pounds per week can actually be considered a bit too high for some people.

Even at this rate used in this example, reducing your caloric intake by 500 calories per day is quite considerable and by the end of the week if you do it each day, you will have lost one pound. Imagine the type of stress you put on your body if you doubled this rate! It is doable, but it’s far more preferable to lose weight in 2 weeks or aim for a long-term approach.

But obviously this article is about how to lose weight in one week so you can use the same principles to do exactly that. Keep in mind the same methods apply if you are looking for how to lose weight in 2 weeks. You will find that it gets much easier however, if you look towards a long-term approach and do this on a daily basis for several weeks.

So there you have it – the basic formula.

You know that burning 3500 calories will result in one pound of weight loss. You have seven days to work with. How many calories can you save yourself by healthier food choices? And how many calories can you effectively burn off in a day through exercise? These numbers will be up to you and how hard you want to work but whether you are trying to lose weight in 2 weeks or just one – this is the primary premise you are working with. Good luck and best of health!

Best Folding Camping Table

Not everyone goes camping and sits on the hard ground or on a log to eat their meals. A comfortable camping chair and folding camping table is simply a necessity. Besides, you cannot play a friendly game of cards with your friends this way. Many people, especially those who have kids along with them have made the decision to purchase a camping table as it serves a number of important purposes on any camping trip. So what is the best camping table available?

Find a Table to Match Your Needs

In reality, one cannot answer this question for the simple fact that everyone is different and so to are their needs. In its simplest form, many campers have determined that a regular old card table is the best camping table because it is light-weight and very portable. At the same time, others choose to get a table which folds out and also features benches. These are also fairly portable but are usually substantially heavier.

doyle-marine-wooden-camping-folding-tableYou need to figure out what your personal needs are. If everyone is bringing their own chairs then choosing a table with benches is just a waste. However, if you plan on keeping the eating are away from the campfire and sitting areas, then maybe the best camping table for you will be one with built-in benches. In the end though, you have to make the determination as to which is the best camping table for your particular needs. What will work for your best friend or neighbor, may not work for you and your way of camping. Folding camping tables are particularly nice since they pack away into small places and can be quickly pulled out for a night of cards or enjoying a dinner by the fire.

When it is all said and done though, by taking the necessary time to make a well informed decision you will be able to find the best camping table for your particular camping experiences.

Simmons Adjustable Beds Company

The history of the Simmons bed company is long and kind of cool. They started in 1870 and originally made cheese boxes and wooden insulators. Today they are the makers of ComfortPedic, Simmons Kids, Beautyrest Black and Natural Care, all registered trademarks. A few years later in 1876 they decided to make the change to wire mass produced woven mattresses.

In the late 1890’s when the industrial revolution was at its peak Simmons developed a new manufacturing technique and quickly applied it to their most popular brands. Spiral spring coils were first introduced and the new techniques in manufacturing dropped the price of the mattress. Previously with costly procedures the mattresses were $12 but the new techniques dropped them to just under $1 dollar.

An employee of the Simmons company patented the inner spring coil, his name was James Marshall. Unfortunately the process for making the coil at the time was manual and took considerable time to produce. As a result the only places you could find such luxury was on cruise liners like none other than the Titanic.

Growth Phase

After the turn of the century Simmons pioneered modern advertising campaigns for the mattress with a 2 page layout in the Saturday Evening Post in 1916. After World War I the cotton first felt mattresses were introduced.

By that time Simmons had acquired manufacturing locations in San Francisco, Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Seattle and Atlanta. Simmons used that network to create a nationwide service station where you could see samples of the beds in the store itself and then have the bed delivered to your home within 24 hours.

The Modern Business

Moving into the 1950’s Simmons Adjustable Beds Company had developed the first King and Queen size mattresses and they were prominently advertised in many mainstream publications.

Adjustments were made to the beds designs and new products were released over the next fifty years including the Backcare line whose specific intentions were to make sure you slept with proper spinal alignment. Over the last 10 years they have introduced the pocket coil system and a new mattress size, the Olympic queen which offers an additional 6 inches.

What Are The Best Sewing Machine Brands And Why?

Whether you’re seasoned in the art of sewing or you’re just starting out, the sheer number of brands that sell sewing machines can be completely overwhelming. The chances are you’ll know what you’re looking for in a machine, but maybe wonder which brand to buy it from? Well, if you’re looking to find out what the best sewing machine brands are, and why, you’re in the right place. We’ll go through three of the most well-known brands of sewing machine, and decide which brand is the best. This will take into consideration a number of factors, including price, range, and other things you’d consider when purchasing a new machine.

brother-sewing-machineBrother are a brilliantly well-known brand of sewing machines, catering to beginners right the way to professionals. They offer a huge range of sewing machines, as well as sewing and embroidery machines and even quilting machines. But how do they stack up against Singer and Janome?

On their website, the Brother sewing machines range from below $100 to almost $2000, so there really is a machine for everyone’s budget! Of course, the cheaper ones won’t be as all-singing-all-dancing as the more expensive, but they’ll get the job done. Brother also offer finance options on selected machines, so if you’re a professional looking for a high-end machine that you want to pay off monthly, that could be an option for you.

Brother has a huge range of machines, with eighteen different models currently listed on their website. This is arguably a large range, so you’re bound to be able to find something you like there! There are a number of other review sites that are worth looking at. We particularly recommend which seems to give comprehensive reviews on all the bestselling sewing machines in the Brother range.

It would be impossible to go through the features of every machine here, but to give you an overview we’ll do the cheapest, the most expensive and one in the middle.\r\n

  • Cheapest: Brother L14: 14 stitches, seven accessories.
  • Middle range price: Brother FS130QC: 130 stitches, huge range of accessories. Lots of additional features.
  • Most expensive: Brother Innov-Is VQ2: 473 stitches, wide range of accessories, and a plethora of additional features to make your sewing projects simple.

Brother sewing machines come with a three year warranty.

singer-sewing-machineSinger are an American sewing machine brand, so unfortunately in the UK you won’t be able to purchase directly from them. There are a range of stockists in the UK that carry Singer machines, however, so they’re still a viable option. The website that seems to be the best carrier is – this is where we’ll be getting our information from for this segment.

Singer machines start at just £85 and the highest priced machine we could find when researching costs £699. This is significantly lower than the highest priced Brother machine. It does indicate that, regardless of your budget, a Singer machine is a possibility for you.\r\n

Currently, on the website listed above, there are twenty machines available for sale in the UK from Singer. This is slightly more than Brother are currently offering, but again indicates that whatever your skill level and desired outcome, Singer will be able to provide a machine to help you achieve it.

For this, we’ll address the features and accessories that come with three machines from different price points, to give you an overview of what you can expect from Singer machines.

  • Lowest priced machine: Singer Promise 1409 – Comes with sixteen accessories. The product description does not mention how many stitches are available on it, but does make a point of mentioning that the machine is very basic.
  • Middle range price: Singer Confidence 7463 – Comes with fifteen different accessories, is computerized, has a “good selection” of stitches.
  • Most expensive machine: Singer Futura XL400 – 30 built in stitch patterns and 125 built in embroidery patterns, with five choices of font, the machine comes with ten accessories.

Listed on the website is an extended 10 year warranty on selected items. The website also states that all machines come with the manufacturer’s warranty.

janome-sewing-machineFinally, Janome. Janome are a Japanese company that produces many accessories for sewing, including sewing machines. Unlike Singer, they do have a website for the UK, however the sewing machines don’t appear to be for sale on the website itself, but the website will direct you to the nearest retailer.

Prices aren’t available from the website, but Janome machines seem to range from £139 for the most basic model, up into the hundreds for those with more features. On the whole, though, they seem to be quite affordable considering the wide range offered!

Janome have a huge 32 machine range on their website, which is the highest of the three manufacturers we’ve looked at here. They have standard and computerised machines, as well as those with all the bells and whistles on! More so than either Brother or Singer, there is something for absolutely everyone.

Prices taken from

  • Lowest price model: Janome J3-18. Includes 18 built in stitch choices and comes with nine different accessories.
  • Middle range model: Janome DXL603. Includes 60 built in stitch choices, and comes with twenty accessories. Computerised.
  • Highest Price model: Janome MC8900QC. Full computerised. Includes over 200 built in stitch choices, and comes with thirty six accessories.

The Janome website requires you to register your product to receive your warranty, and offers the chance to extend your warranty “for as little as £10 a year”.

Overall, taking in to consideration all the factors of each machine mentioned here, we would say Janome is the best sewing machine brand. It has a huge range of machines on offer for every budget, and each machine has a wide range of capabilities. We’d opt for Brother after Janome, and then Singer, purely due to availability issues. Hopefully you’re now in a better position to decide which brand to buy your sewing machine from! It’s understandable to be a little overwhelmed, given the amount of choice there is out there, but by comparing a few key features, it’s easy to decide which brand is the best for you.

How to Choose the Best Weed Wacker

People who live in a house understand the importance of having a tidy lawn. Furthermore, it is well known that this is a weekly operation that can suffer no postponing. Though there are families who prefer to ask for professional help, the majority rather do it themselves as a recreational activity. However, in order to actually enjoy it, it is extremely important to own a practical and operational tool. The best weed wacker for you is the one that helps you get the job done in effective time with optimum results.

It is important to know that choosing the best weed wacker is definitely not a random purchase. You cannot simply pick the first one that you see. Furthermore, the price is the aspect that must be analyzed last; otherwise you may end up with a tool that will cease to work from the first day. The purpose of this article is to reveal the things that you must consider when you want to buy such a device. Remember that the first step in such an acquisition starts from your house, to be more precise you need to measure the size of the lawn and the toughness of the grass.

Why Do You Need a Weed Wracker?

A weed wacker is a tool with a mono-filament line that helps you cut the grass and get rid of unaesthetic plants. It is practical in every household, and most important it can help you finish the job fast and effectively. The best weed eater is the one that is adjustable not only to the landscape, but also to your height. Furthermore, it should help you trim crowded spaces or narrow alleys.

Qualities of the Best Weed Wacker

When it comes to purchasing the best weed eater for your yard, it is important to consider the following aspects:

  • The size of the yard and/or garden;
  • The type of the machine;
  • The type of shaft;
  • Maintenance;
  • Comfort of use;
  • Warranty.

The size of the yard and/or garden is the first thing that must be taken into consideration. If you skip this step, you may end up with a device that cannot handle the surface, thus will burn before finishing the job.  It is important to know that small lawns can be efficiently trimmed with a corded electric weed wacker. They are quiet and eco-friendly and ensure enough movement to reach every corner.

Medium yards require more movement. This means that it is not efficient to depend on the length of a cable or the position of the socket.  An optimum purchase would be a cordless weed eater powered by a battery. However, they do not represent a good choice for big yards and gardens as the battery may get empty before finishing the job. In this case, remember to browse the gas operated ones.

As it can be seen there are three major types of such machines: corded, cordless and gas powered. Corded electric weed wackers are the ones that do not require a recharge during the trimming process. They are lightweight and can be operated with ease. Before you actually purchase one make sure that you have a socket close to the garden, otherwise you will not be able to use it.

Cordless weed wackers run on batteries. They can be rechargeable or not. These devices are also very quiet and eco-friendly. The only restriction would be the battery capacity that determines how long it lasts. If you really want or need high power than gas weed wackers represent the optimum purchase. They are a bit noisier than electric ones but can handle successfully even the most difficult jobs.

The type of the shaft is another important aspect that must be taken into consideration in order to make an efficient purchase. There are three main types available: straight, curved and split. Straight shafts are long and can trim with ease any area of the yard. Tall people will definitely enjoy them most.

Curved shafts can be handled with ease and ensure an optimum balance. They are not very good at reaching complicated corners, but pretty much do what they are supposed to do. Split shafts will definitely be noticed with ease thanks to their versatile design. They allow you to remove the trimming head and add other attachments, such as leaf blowers or tree pruners.

Besides replacing the string, weed wackers may require additional maintenance. Most models mainly need to keep the head clean, and they are good to use. Besides this, it is highly advisable to make sure that the air filter is free of debris, and the bolts and nuts are positioned correctly. It does not take much time and significantly increases the life of your device.

Gas weed wackers are a bit more exigent. The spark plugs require regular maintenance and replacement from time to time. Before you store it during the winter make sure that the tank is empty. This is the only way you can avoid corrosion. Make sure you take the leftover fuel to a hazardous waste center.

Remember that you will be using this tool pretty often so it must be comfortable. In this case, the main aspect that must be taken into consideration is the weight, noise level and eventual smoke produced. However, do not make this a priority if you own a big garden as you need a more powerful tool in order to get the job done effectively.

Never buy a weed wacker before checking the warranty. Most products are covered by at least one year of free maintenance, in case they break down. There are brands that ensure free extensions if you register the weed wacker on their site. Just like in the case of comfort, do not turn the warranty issue into a priority.

As it can be seen, choosing the best weed wacker requires time and research. However, considering  that this is a purchase that you will use on long term it is totally worth it. Remember the order of the six qualities of such a device and you will definitely take the best decision.

What Makes A Good Choice For Patio Heater?

Patio heaters are great for extending your evenings by the barbeque as the evenings draw in and the temperature drops. But, the heating of outdoor spaces is never as straightforward as it may seem. The main problem is that all heat generated is inevitably lost to the atmosphere. It is very difficult to keep the heat local to where you are sitting or standing. The cost of running a patio heater can add up very quickly.

So, before making a choice as to which patio heater to purchase it would be worth spending a little time on exactly how patio heaters work so that the decision you make is an informed one.

What is the Space You Wish to Heat?

The first thing you need to consider is the space that you wish to heat. The larger the space the more likely that your heater will not be up to the job, or that you will require more than one to generate sufficient heat for your needs. Obviously the warmer the climate you live in the more easily you will be able to keep it warm. But there are some patio heaters available today that can generate a heat output in excess of 40000 Btu’s.

That being said you need to be careful of taking such figures as gospel. Similarly manufacturer claims of how much their heaters will raise the temperature need also to be taken with a pinch of salt.

So, as noted earlier, we have only looked at one aspect of what type of patio heater you may need and already we have a number of differing factors to take into consideration including the climate, the area, the weather and how much you want need the temperature to be increased by.

Another important factor to consider is whether you want the heater to be portable or are happy to have it in a fixed spot all the time.

As a general rule propane patio heaters tend to be moveable, where as fire pits are less so. There are exceptions to each of these examples such as fixed patio heaters located on walls (electric powered).

Obviously the benefits to portability are that the heater is brought out when needed but otherwise is stored away and does not clutter up your useable area. Portability tends to come at the price of aesthetics however. With most portable propane heaters being fairly ugly to look at.

With all types of space heater, but most especially ones that use propane gas as a fuel source, safety is of the utmost importance.

Do you have kids? Do you have pets? How cramped is the space in which you intend to position your patio space heater? All these factors need to be addressed when making your personal choice.

With kids it is especially important to take extra care. You should consider the placement of the heater and whether there are any parts that get very hot to the touch that are in easy reach. And as a general rule the heater should never be used with kids unless there is an adult present at all times.

Other safety features that are essential are functions such as the automatic tip over switch which prevents the heater from continuing in the event that it falls over. This may be literally a life saver in some situations.

Summing It Up

As you can probably see, what initially seems to be quite a straightforward decision has rapidly evolved into a multi-faceted problem all of which should be considered before making your decision and we haven’t even got onto the issue of aesthetic appeal yet.
